Professional Interests
LaGriff’s professional interests include creating more equitable and accessible therapy spaces for minoritized folks, psychological flexibility, LGBTQ+ mental health and well-being, non-traditional relationships, community care, neurodivergence, teaching, and mind-body healing approaches.
Approach to Therapy
LaGriff takes a client-centered approach with the understanding that systems of oppression are often the root cause of human suffering. They take a compassionate, relational approach in that the therapeutic relationship and co-actions occurring between therapist and client in the room are the foundation for impactful, meaningful change. With systems in mind, LaGriff strives to help their clients approach the not-so-easy parts of being human to make room for the beauty and abundance of a life worth living. The resounding question at the core of their work stems from Mary Oliver’s quote: "What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" LaGriff’s style is integrative and is shaped by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Liberation Psychology, Feminist Psychology, Brief Solutions-Focused Psychotherapy, and somatic approaches to healing.
Approach to Wellness
LaGriff’s approach to wellness nearly always involves being outside (e.g., getting lost in the woods or mountains, plopping their body in water, touching grass) or cooking something adventurous and delicious for their people. They also enjoy reading, journaling, and info-sharing about psych-related special interests with their equally passionate and neurodivergent chosen family.
