Goals of the CARSS Center

  • To assess needs and assist students to meet their academic goals, and personal and career needs
  • To provide services that will enable students to remain in good academic standing while completing their degree
  • To foster a supportive and nurturing environment where students can gain a strong sense of connection with the larger university community

What We Do

CARSS’ services and activities are tailored to meet the needs of each participant. These services include, but are not limited to:

  • Offering group and/or recitational tutorial services for Science majors in gateway courses through trained peer tutors
  • Providing a sense of community, belonging and connection to the university
  • Providing to students a safe environment to meet peers and establish relationships
  • Making available a caring and dedicated staff

Who We Serve

Any Science* major who seeks to make a successful transition to the university, whether entering as a freshman or a transfer student, is welcome to take advantage of the CARSS program.

*Science refers to: Biology, Chemistry, Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences, and Physics

Our Location

     

We are now located in LI-36, in the basement level between the Arts and Sciences building and the Fine Arts building, directly accessible from the Lecture Center. Between LC 3C and LC 4, proceed up the short flight of stairs just past Argo Tea; go through the glass doors; and then left down the hallway past the Test Scoring Center. LI-36 is on the right just part the Test Scoring Center.
