Members of the School of Social Welfare faculty and staff started the Social Work Virtual Café via Zoom for social welfare students. This event was created to give students an opportunity to interact with their peers, meet others, and share positive stories and thoughts during this time of COVID-19. "The Virtual Café has given our students, faculty and staff a great way to interact, socialize, and have engaging discussions with each other, even while quarantined at home. Particularly for members of our school community who are socially isolated and possibly living alone, the chance to 'hang out' together outside of class meeting times and/or meetings can be a valuable opportunity," said Associate Professor and MSW Program Director, Eric Hardiman.

The virtual café is a new way to build community with each other, generate ideas, and feel connected as we are physically distancing from each other. SSW faculty, staff, part-time lecturers and students are invited to participate in this cafe, which is held Mondays at noon and Thursdays at 5pm. If interested in participating, please contact Linda Mertz for the Zoom login information. "The conversations have been lively and inspired, and it’s giving us a chance to get to know our students better, bonding us all together through this shared experience," said Hardiman.
