Bu Zhao

Dr. Bu Zhao is a Volunteer Research Faculty in the Department of Environmental and Sustainable Engineering at University at Albany. He will officially join the Department of Environmental and Sustainable Engineering as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Sep 2024. Currently, Dr. Zhao is also working as an Eric and Wendy Schmidt Postdoctoral Fellow at Cornell University. Before joining University at Albany, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Lecturer at the University of Michigan. He has been serving as the Managing Editor of the journal Resources, Conservation & Recycling and the Review Editor of the journal Frontiers in Environmental Science. He is actively seeking prospective PhD students and postdoctoral research fellows.

Research Interests

My research focuses on data-driven environmental system analysis to analyze and mitigate the environmental impacts of human activities. I aim to advance our understanding of sustainable systems by integrating AI techniques and environmental science, particularly in the context of climate change and carbon neutrality goals.
