Whose Latino Vote is it? Article by Jose Cruz

After the US presidential elections, a group of political commentators, mostly academics, have argued that the Latino vote does not exist. The ruling is based on the fact that the Latino label obscures the diversity that reigns within that group. The argument is that saying Latino vote assumes that the group is monolithic and that its political preference is singular. Then, as evidence that the pan-ethnic vote does not exist, the partisan division that exists between Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, Cubans and other groups from Central and South America is presented and in the case of this year's elections the number of Latino votes received by Trump.
