The University at Albany held its inaugural Research & Entrepreneurship (R&E) Week from Oct. 16 to 20, 2023.

The week united researchers, innovators and leaders from across the University to demonstrate the impact of research on the world around us. By providing a forum for scholars from diverse disciplines to come together, R&E Week showcased UAlbany’s research and economic potential while fostering new partnerships.

Inaugural SUNY AI Symposium

Monday, October 16 - Hosted by the University at Albany, the SUNY AI Symposium brought together researchers and faculty from across the SUNY system to exchange research and ideas around artificial intelligence.

Research and Creative Excellence Open House

Tuesday, October 17 - The Research and Creative Excellence Open House provided local community members, policymakers and industry leaders the opportunity to see first-hand the research and entrepreneurial successes of UAlbany faculty.
 

BioInnovation Forum 2023

Wednesday, October 18 - The BioInnovation Forum, in partnership with Innovate 518,  brought together industry experts, innovators, academics and leaders who are transforming the field of life sciences.
 

Research Resources Fair

Thursday, October 19  - At the Research Resources Fair, faculty and researchers discussed resources available to support their work and explore ways to build future capabilities based on current needs.
 

Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair

Friday, October 20 - At the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair, faculty and students alike had the opportunity to network, pitch their ideas to a seasoned venture panel, and explore how breakthrough discoveries move from the University to the marketplace.

2023 R&E Week Highlights

Student Excellence

Eighty students from across the SUNY System presented research posters as a part of the inaugural SUNY AI Symposium at UAlbany’s ETEC building on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023.

Presentations explored the real-life affects and applications of AI in today's world.

$20M for AI Research

At the SUNY AI Symposium on Oct. 16, Governor Kathy Hochul announced the formation of the Center for Emerging Artificial Intelligence Systems (CEAIS), a $20 million collaboration between UAlbany and IBM that will power new AI research projects with the help of advanced cloud computing and emerging hardware out of the IBM Research AI Hardware Center.
