About

Justin Bishop has been drumming since the age nine. He grew up in Amsterdam, New York, and was part of the Amsterdam Marching Rams drum line as a snare player for all four years of high school. He also performed in musicals and multiple concert bands on drum set and other auxiliary percussion instruments, and took Music Theory 1 and 2.

After graduating high school, Justin branched out to the drum corps word and performed with Excelsior Drum and Bugle Corps from 2015 to 2017. After taking a break for a few years to focus on other life opportunities, Justin returned to the marching arts world in 2021, teaching for Albany Indoor Percussion Ensemble for two seasons.

In 2022, he joined UAlbany’s Marching Great Danes as the drum line instructor. Justin has also recently joined and is performing with the world-class drum and bugle corps Connecticut Hurricanes.

Outside of teaching and performing, Justin works as a senior pharmacy liaison for Albany Medical Center’s Pediatric Pulmonary and Cystic Fibrosis Center. When he’s home and not practicing music, he is an avid gamer and enjoys spending time with his two sugar gliders, Okka and Rina.
