Professional Interests

Malina brings a diverse range of experience, having practiced in private, community and collegiate counseling environments. She specializes in supporting students as they navigate challenges related to racial identity development, anxiety management, LGBTQIA+ issues and sexuality.

Beyond her clinical work, Malina is deeply committed to advocacy, particularly for racial and ethnic communities. Her research aims to bridge the gap between mental health services and underserved populations. 

Approach to Therapy

Malina utilizes an integrative approach to psychotherapy, informed by a multicultural perspective, and aims to empower clients through relational cultural therapy. As a first-generation Lao American, she places great emphasis on the role of culture and context in her clinical practice.

Approach to Wellness

In her leisure time, Malina is a dedicated fan of artists like Frank Ocean, SZA and Rina Sawayama, often attending their concerts. She also enjoys painting and drawing as well as spending quality time with friends and family.
