Career Mobility Office

The Career Mobility Office (CMO) provides New York State employees customized career counseling and resource tools to enhance their career mobility.
The CMO also assists New York State agencies in addressing their workforce training and redeployment needs.

Governor's Office of Employee Relations (GOER) and the Statewide Learning Management System (SLMS)

GOER workshops are primarily designed for managers and supervisors, regardless of bargaining unit affiliation. Courses address topics of interest on supervisory skills, building teams, project management, conflict resolution, and diversity. Courses are usually one to three days in length. They are held during normal business hours, and you may be granted release time to attend, subject to your supervisor’s approval. There is no cost.
Registration for these courses requires an active account on the Statewide Learning Management System (SLMS). GOER course listings and SLMS registration procedures may be viewed in MyUAlbany under the Human Resources tab, Training Schedules.
NYS Agencies in Partnership for Training (APT)

APT workshops are designed for staff and supervisors, regardless of bargaining unit affiliation. Courses typically address topics such as Time Management, Conflict, Employee Motivation, Dynamic Presentations, and Team Building.
Courses are usually ½ to one day in length. They are held during normal business hours, and you may be granted release time to attend, subject to your supervisor’s approval. There is no cost.
Space is limited to 2 SUNY seats per class. SUNY seats are allocated on a first come first-served basis, so early enrollment is recommended. To apply for a course, follow the e-mail or flier directions. Selected applicants will receive an email or written response prior to the class date.
The Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) has developed a Comprehensive Ethics Training Course that covers Ethics in NYS including applicable laws and regulations. All financial disclosure statement filers are required to take this course via a live or interactive webinar training session. The training materials can be found below for reference.
