| Biography: Barry Trachtenberg is an assistant professor of Jewish Studies at the University at Albany. He received his doctorate in history from the University of California, Los Angeles. He earned a post-graduate diploma in Jewish studies at Oxford University's Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies and a master's degree in U.S. history from the University of Vermont. He is currently completing a book manuscript that examines the role of the 1905 Russian Revolution in the creation of Yiddish studies and he is a member of a collaborative research project examining the Satmar Hasidic village of Kiryas Joel, N.Y. |
