Biography:
Amanda B. Nickerson is a licensed psychologist and assistant professor of school psychology. She received her master's degree and doctorate in school psychology from the University of South Carolina, where she earned the Dean's Award for Excellence in Graduate Study and the Outstanding Graduate Work in Research Award. Nickerson's research and teaching interests include assessment and intervention with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders, school crisis prevention and intervention, and child and adolescent family and peer relationships. She teaches courses in social, emotional, and behavioral assessment; psychotherapy with children; a research seminar; and an interdisciplinary course on emergency preparedness in schools. She received the National Association of School Psychologists Presidential Award in 2006 for her work on developing a standardized school crisis prevention and intervention training curriculum.
