Biography:

Lyons is Professor of Theatre Design and Technology, and the Resident Lighting Designer for the University at Albany's Theatre Program. She has designed lighting or scenery for more than 100 University productions, and served as the Department’s Technical Director and Production Supervisor until 1992.

Professor Lyons teaches courses in Lighting Design, Lighting Technology, Scenic Technology, Technical Design, Theatrical Drafting, and Stage Management. Lyons is the recipient of numerous awards, including the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence, in both academic service and teaching, as well as the University at Albany President’s Award for Excellence in both academic service and teaching.

Andi is a long-term, active member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT), the association for design, production, and technology professionals in the performing arts. She currently serves on the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Caucus on Human Issues. She is also the Leader for the Women’s Networking Project.
