David Duffee received his Ph.D. in 1974 from the University at Albany School of Criminal Justice, where he served as dean from 1988-1995. He is the author or co-author of several books on criminal justice, including Explaining Criminal Justice, which won the inaugural Book of the Year Award from the Academy of Criminal Sciences. He recently directed a five year project for the National Institute of Justice on the interaction of police and neighborhood organizations. He is currently principal investigator of a partnership with two youth and family service agencies called Service Outcome Action Research to improve child welfare services in congregate care and community programs.
