Yvonne Harrison has expertise in the governance and leadership of nonprofit and voluntary sector organizations, the adoption and use of information and communications technology by nonprofit and voluntary sector organizations, organization theory and the management of public-private partnerships.

She and co-investigator, Vic Murray, have developed the Board Check-Up to help nonprofit and voluntary sector boards of directors assess and make decisions about their effectiveness. This free online tool is a University at Albany sponsored research project (10-255) that has produced papers and reports on the issues that challenge boards and the impact of self-assessment from output (changes in governance practices) and process (board performance decision-making) effectiveness perspectives.

Yvonne brings expertise in Academic Service Learning from Seattle University, in Seattle, Wash., where she was an assistant professor of Nonprofit Leadership and a Faculty Fellow who conducted research and designed and facilitated courses that met student and community needs. She holds a BS in Nursing, a Master of Public Administration and Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Victoria, BC, Canada.
