NYS Flex Spending Accounts

Eligible CSEA, UUP, M/C, PEF, NYSCOPBA, and PBANYS employees may take advantage of the Dependent Care Advantage and Health Care Spending accounts.

Eligible Graduate and Teaching Assistants may take advantage of the Dependent Care Advantage account.

Dependent Care Advantage Account*

This allows eligible employees to set aside up to $5,000/year per household annually in pre-tax salary to pay for eligible dependent care expenses. Qualified dependents include children under the age of 13; disabled children of any age; and relatives residing in the employee's home who are incapable of caring for themselves. 

Health Care Spending Account*

This allows eligible employees to set aside up to $3,200 (as of 2024) annually in pre-tax salary to pay for health-related expenses that are not reimbursed by insurance. Medically necessary medical, dental, prescription, vision, and hearing expenses for enrollees and their eligible dependents may be reimbursed. 

Adoption Advantage Account*

This allows eligible employees to pay for expenses related to the adoption of an eligible child with pre-tax dollars.
