What is the Leaders in Service (LIS) Program?
LIS is a service-learning program designed for UAlbany students, faculty, & staff, with a focus on frosh in residence. LIS seeks leaders to serve with like-minded participants who are passionate about service. Leaders engage in one- time & extended service projects, leadership development and mentorship opportunities intended to benefit the local Albany community and beyond.
 
What are Leaders charged to do?
Leaders are charged to reach beyond the University’s borders and make the school’s impact felt deeply within the local community through high-impact service projects created in shared vision with students, administrators, faculty, and community partners alike.

How do Leaders Serve?
The exact movement of LIS will derive from the group itself; however, a schedule of ongoing (daily/weekly) projects and monthly projects will be provided.  Leaders will select projects that work best for them, or suggest their own projects. Leaders will also complete leadership development workshops and participate in networking & mentorship opportunities.  The Leaders in Service program will be known across campus and throughout the capital region, which it will serve.

How do I become a Leader in Service?
Complete and submit an application to be considered for selection.
Applications are available at the Indian Quad Information Center.
Applications must be returned to the Indian Quad Information Center by November 15, 2009.
