Welcome to Residential Life at UAlbany

A brief welcome letter from the director

Living on campus is one of the best ways to become an active part of the University at Albany community! Whether you live in a traditional style room, a suite, an apartment on Freedom, or Empire Commons, living in residence provides you with an environment that is designed for your academic success and personal development. Each year you will meet new friends and discover new opportunities for intellectual and cultural enrichment.

Study groups, volunteer opportunities, athletic events, cultural trips, and programs that are just plain fun – are part of the "Res Life" experience at UAlbany. Check out the Students Events Calendar and find out what’s going on, not just in the residence halls, but across campus. The more you participate in the life of this campus, the richer your experience will be.

Get to know your RD (Resident Director) and student RA (Resident Assistant) living with you in residence. They are here for you – to serve as a resource and to provide you with the positive support you need to make UAlbany your home away from home. I urge you to take full advantage of every opportunity offered to you in residence – and I guarantee that the friends you meet and the experiences you engage in will generate memories that will last for a lifetime.

Sincerely,
Laurie M. Garafola
Director of Residential Life
