Chartwells, the University at Albany's foodservice
provider,
has an exclusive right to cater and sell
food
on the
campuses
of the University at Albany.
If you wish to use an off campus caterer or to sell food on campus, you must obtain a waiver, in writing, from the Chartwells Catering Office, located in the Patroon Room, Campus Center. You may contact the Catering Office Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm by:
Obtaining a waiver may be a lengthy process and should be started at least one month before your event. To protect the safety of students, staff and faculty, anyone serving or selling food on campus must provide the required health certificates and insurance documentation in order to be granted a waiver.

EVENTS THAT REQUIRE A WAIVER |
- Campus-wide Events: UAlbany events that are open to the campus community and / or the public, such as graduation, Homecoming Weekend events, sporting events, and concerts.
- Public Events: Gatherings of more than 50 people at an event that is open to the general public such as carnivals, exhibitions, fairs and festivals.
- Student Sponsored Events: Gatherings of more than 50 people at an event that is sponsored by a student group and is open to the public such as fashion shows, meetings, cultural events and parties.
- Concession Sales: Selling food items at campus events and activities
- Fundraising Events: Fundraising events that are held at campus events or activities.

EVENTS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE A WAIVER |
- Events Catered By Chartwells
- Events Located Off Campus, which includes Chapel House
- Private Events: In-door gatherings of 50 people or less, not open to the public, not charging admission. Foods must be only low risk, served in a sanitary manner and eaten or discarded within 2 hours of delivery.
- Fundraising Other Than At Campus Events: Food items sold by a UAlbany student organization to raise funds for a charity or the organization itself. Food must be low risk, served in a sanitary manner, and eaten or discarded within 2 hours of delivery.
