Chief Information Officer
Christine E. Haile has served as UAlbany’s Chief Information Officer since 2001. Haile oversees campus-wide information technology policies, programs and services. In her role, she ensures that IT services align with the University’s strategic plan and support a broad range of faculty, staff and student needs. She is charged with managing a central IT organization of 125 employees and a $15 million budget.
Prior to coming to UAlbany, she was Associate Vice Chancellor and Provost for Technology Services at the SUNY System Administration.
Haile received an MBA in Finance from UAlbany and holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from SUNY Potsdam.
She is a member of the Board of NYSERNet, a past-chair of the SUNY Council of CIOs, and currently serves on the SUNY Chancellor’s IT Transformation Team. She is active in EDUCAUSE, most recently as a faculty member for its Leadership Institute. She served as a judge for the Best of New York IT Awards in 2011 and 2012. Haile has also served as a proposal reviewer for both NSF (STEM Digital Libraries) and the Sloan Foundation (online learning).
Haile was awarded the 2007 Best Technology Executive by the Alliance of Technology and Women, and the 2004 Best of New York Award for Demonstrated Leadership in Information Technology.
