Catherine Herman
Vice President for Strategic Communications and Marketing
As the University at Albany’s Vice President of Strategic Communications and Marketing, Catherine Herman is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic communications program that supports key University external and internal stakeholders.
Before coming to UAlbany in 2000 to lead a comprehensive institutional branding initiative, Herman developed and implemented successful marketing and public relations programs at the New York State Department of Health, Albany Law School and the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. She also worked in commercial television at EUE/Screen Gems, a division of Columbia Pictures.
Herman earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
She is the recipient of the DMA Echo Leadership Award and other national honors, including two National Council for the Advancement and Support of Education awards, the New York State Commissioner's Recognition Award from the NYS Department of Health, and the Mark of Excellence Award from New York’s Chapter of the Regional American Marketing Association.
She has presented at the American Marketing Association’s Higher Education Summit, serves as vice president of the American Marketing Association’s regional chapter and chairs the New York Capital Region Breakfast Roundtable marketing series.
