ALBANY, N.Y. (March 14, 2019) — Faculty, staff and students have supported UAlbany this year in record numbers. Beginning Monday, every UAlbany Fund gift made will be matched by challenge donors — doubling the impact of your generosity.

The UAlbany Fund’s March Matchness, now in its second year, is a giving challenge where each gift unlocks a matching pledge from an individual or corporate sponsor. The challenge runs March 18-29, and you can choose if you want your gift to go to a particular school, college or program, or to wherever the need is greatest.

The giving challenge runs March 18-29.

All gifts — of any size and to any designation — also will count toward UAlbany’s This is Our Time campaign. The campaign, the largest in the University’s 175-year history, seeks to raise $150 million to support financial aid and student opportunities, and advance research that addresses society’s most pressing issues.

“Every UAlbany Fund gift has an immediate and positive impact on UAlbany students,” said Vice President for University Advancement Fardin Sanai. “We are especially grateful to our donors who have provided challenge funds to further enhance that impact.”

Among the matching donors is PepsiCo, which has pledged $175,000 to March Matchness, a sum chosen in honor of the University’s 175th anniversary. Featured challenges include the School of Business, Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, the University Art Museum, the School of Education, the School of Public Health, the Cancer Research Center, Athletics, Men’s Lacrosse and the Class Gift.

The Student Philanthropy Council will be tabling in the Lecture Center Concourse and the Campus Center on March 27 and 28 to promote March Matchness to the student body. Students can give to any designation or to a class gift. The 2019 class gift will be donated to the Student Emergency Relief Fund.
