There's no way around it. Pursuing a graduate degree, particularly in STEM fields, is challenging work for anyone. But some students, particularly women and students of color, face additional obstacles to those faced by their classmates. In this talk, we will quickly review those obstacles (although most of you already know what they are!). We will then focus on strategies you can adopt to help you navigate through graduate school and build an optimal experience for yourself. If you are a current graduate student, these strategies will help you survive and thrive in your current program. If you are considering graduate programs, you will also learn some tips for how to select a graduate program htat is likely to work best for you.
