Am I required to use a lender presented for my consideration?

No, you are not obligated to use any of the lenders UAlbany presents for your consideration.  You are free to choose among all lenders who provide student loans. Please be aware some credits unions, smaller banks, and “start up” lenders do not participate in UAlbany’s electronic loan processes.  Selection of one of these lenders may result in a manual certification and disbursement by check. If you have existing loans, we encourage you to stay with the same lender for future student loans.  If you have an existing banking relationship, you should compare your bank’s student loan offerings to those of the lenders presented for your consideration and make the choice that is best for you and your family.
