Federal PLUS Loan

UAlbany Parent PLUS Application Instructions   First Time Borrowers 1.       Visit http://www.hesc.com/content.nsf/SFC/5/Complete_the_eMPN     2.       Read “Complete the E-MPN section.” 3.       Scroll down to the Parent Only section and click on the E-MPN “Begin the Parent PLUS Loan e-MPN and/or Credit Check process.” 4.       You will be asked to select UAlbany and also provide the dollar amount and semester(s) for the loan you wish to borrow. 5.       Dependent upon the lender selected, you will be asked to authorize a credit check. §         If you fail the credit, you may at this time leave the HESC web site. The credit denial will be forwarded to the UAlbany Financial Aid Office and the student will receive a revised award letter with the additional Unsubsidized Stafford loan offer. §         If you are approved, you will need to continue with the completion of the E-MPN. 6.       The Parent PLUS request will be sent directly to the UAlbany Financial Aid Office. Please allow 3-5 business days for the request to be received and processed. Returning Borrowers If you have already borrowed the Parent PLUS for your UAlbany student during a prior academic year, and have a valid MPN on file with HESC, complete the following steps: 1.       Visit http://www.hesc.com/content.nsf/SFC/5/Complete_the_eMPN     2.       Scroll down to the Parent Only section and click on the E-MPN “Begin the Parent PLUS Loan e-MPN and/or Credit Check process.” 3.       You will be asked to select UAlbany and also provide the dollar amount and semester(s) for the loan you wish to borrow. 4.       Dependent upon your lender, you will be asked to authorize a credit check. §         If you fail the credit check, you may at this time leave the HESC web site. The credit denial will be forwarded to the UAlbany Financial Aid Office and the student will receive a revised award letter with the additional Unsubsidized Stafford loan offer. §         If you are approved, continue through Step 8 and EXIT. §         Your loan request will be sent directly to the UAlbany Financial Aid Office for processing. Please allow 3-5 business days for the request to be received and processed. You may use any participating Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) guarantee agency or lender of your choice. If you do not wish to use HESC as your guarantor or you lender does not participate with HESC, please email the borrower name, student name, lender name, lender code, guarantor name, and a contact phone number for the borrower to faoweb@albany.edu.
