Before You Go
If you are planning to use financial aid to help pay for a semester abroad through one of Albany's or another school's Overseas Academic Programs,
a little planning beforehand will save you a lot of time and trouble later on.
Before you go:
Sign any promissory notes or entrance forms required for obtaining Perkins or Stafford Loans.
Use the
Student Account Epay website to setup electronic transfer of your refund to your checking account.
Consider giving Power of Attorney to your parents so that they can cash and draw checks for you.
Consider using a Stafford Loan lender that transfers funds to the University electronically rather than mails checks that require your endorsements.
Make arrangements at the Student Services Center (Campus Center G-26) to use your financial aid to pay for costs at your host school.
We recommend that all UAlbany students who plan to use financial aid to help finance a study abroad program meet with a
customer service representative in the Student Services Center, Campus Center G-26, to make arrangements
that ensure the proceeds of your financial aid are appropriately disbursed to the host school.
