Freshmen Admissions

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the University at Albany received over 20,000 freshmen applications for the fall 2007 semester. The freshman acceptance rate is approximately 51.5%.

The freshmen class of 2007 is 2,350.

SAT Scores Mid 50% range: 1100-1240

Mid 50% range for high school average: 86-92 unweighted

80% of freshmen ranked in the top third of their high school graduating class.

Over $1.3 million in merit scholarships were awarded to enrolling freshmen for fall 2007.

54% of UAlbany undergraduates receive a financial aid package averaging $8,399.


Transfer Admissions

Student

We received over 6,000 transfer applications during 2006-2007.

For most undergraduate programs, the minimum required GPA is a 2.5 overall from all institutions attended.

Some programs have special entrance requirements for transfer students. The School of Criminal Justice and School of Social Welfare require a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. Applicants to the School of Business must have at least 32 completed credits, an overall GPA of 3.1, and 4 core courses with a 2.85 GPA. The core courses include Statistics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Computer Science, Financial Accounting, Introduction to Psychology, and Introduction to Sociology or Anthropology.
