2018 Chancellor’s Award Winner Anna Agnes

ALBANY, N.Y. (May 7, 2018) — Anna Agnes, from Oakdale, Long Island, is a political science major with a minor in emergency preparedness, homeland security and cybersecurity. She is working on a joint BA/MPA, and expects to complete her Masters of Public Policy with a dual concentration in homeland security and information policy and management next year.

Anna Agnes may someday run for public office. 

Agnes is vice president of the UAlbany pre-law chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Presidential Honors Society, and the Club Field Hockey team. She is the public relations chair of the Democracy Matters Club, and part of the Honors College and the Political Science honors program. She completed the Emerging Student Leaders program in Fall 2015. She is a part of the UAlbany Votes committee and is an Elect Her ambassador.

Agnes has been a member of the College Republicans since her freshman year and has served as president of the organization. She is senator-at-large in the Student Association as well as vice chair of the board of finance, and previously served as the chief of staff to the vice president.

Agnes was a market research analyst intern for Nowigence Inc. and is an intern for her hometown State Senator Tom Croci.

She has been on the Dean’s List since fall 2015. She was a recipient of the Mary E. Whitney Eager ’48 Scholarship, the Presidential Scholarship, the New York State Merit/Academic Excellence Award and the Presidential Alumni Scholarship. Agnes received a scholarship to attend the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders.

Agnes prides herself in her academic excellence. She is grateful for her experiences at UAlbany. After graduation, She would like to move to Washington, D.C., and work in the homeland security field or in a facet of government. Someday she would like to run for office.
