ALBANY, N.Y. (April 10, 2018) — Reaching number one in the nation is getting to be a welcome habit for UAlbany Athletics.

Less than five weeks after men's lacrosse became the University's first team ever to be ranked number one in the nation — reaching it by vote — Matthew Campbell became the number one NCAA high jumper of the outdoor season — attaining it by inches.

In doing so, he became UAlbany's first individual athlete in any sport in the Great Danes' Division I era (post 1989) to attain a number one U.S. ranking.

Campbell, a graduate student in Information Science, cleared 7 feet, 5 inches to win the Florida Relays this past weekend.
