Bilingual Student Assistance

Through a 'Plaza Virtual,' students can now research graduate programs and prepare for a range of licensing exams and graduate entrance exams.

ALBANY, N.Y. (March 6, 2018) — To better serve students along their academic journeys, UAlbany now offers access to a variety of academic and experiential learning resources for both undergraduates and graduates, through a partnership with the Hispanic Educational Technology Services (HETS).

Established in 1993, HETS is a bilingual consortium composed of more than 40 higher educational institutions in Puerto Rico, the United States and Latin America. The organization’s mission is to expand educational opportunities and access to post-secondary education for the Hispanic community in order to support the capacities of its member institutions.

Via the HETS’ Plaza Virtual, students can research graduate programs and prepare for a range of licensing exams and graduate entrance exams, including the GRE, MCAT and LSAT. In addition, there are resources for career exploration, interview skill building, job searches and networking. These include:

  • Online practice tests and more than 300 admission exams with real-time response
  • Free eBooks to prepare for online practice tests
  • Scholarship search featuring $8 billion in available scholarships
  • Internship opportunities
  • Free business online courses
  • Employment resources including resume and cover letter writing and online simulators for interview preparation
  • ESL courses through USA Learns
