Joe Brennan was honored with the Capital Region's 2017 Marketing/Communications Practitioner of the Year Award.

ALBANY, N.Y. (Nov. 17, 2017) -- Vice President of Communications & Marketing Joseph A. Brennan was honored with the 2017 Marketing/Communications Practitioner of the Year Award at the Capital Region MARCOM Awards at Proctors yesterday.

Brennan has served as UAlbany’s chief marketing and communications officer since August 2015, leading the team responsible for all of UAlbany’s news and communications, marketing, and digital media. He has 25 years of experience as a senior leader in higher education, and is an accomplished author, sought-after speaker, and active community volunteer. Brennan is a Public Relations Society of America Fellow, the highest honor in the field of public relations.

“In order to be considered for the Practitioner of the Year Award, you have to achieve high levels of success in the communications and marketing field and you also have to uphold the highest level of ethics,” said Joshua Poupore, President of the Capital Region chapter of PRSA. “When we sat down to think of the next person deserving of this award, it was a no brainer: we nominated Joe [Brennan] without even giving it a second thought."

Presented by the Capital Region Chapter of the American Marketing Association and the Public Relations Society of America, each year the MARCOM Awards honor excellence in marketing and communication while recognizing the creativity, hard work and generosity of industry professionals.
