By the Numbers: More Than $450,000 Raised On ‘Giving Tuesday’

The $478,000 raised during this year’s “UAlbany Giving Tuesday” more than doubled last year’s campaign total.

ALBANY, N.Y. (December 2, 2015) -- The University at Albany Foundation’s second annual “Giving Tuesday” campaign was met with historical success, thanks to the generosity of the entire University community.

The year’s campaign saw 1,278 unique donors raise a total of $271,000 by the challenge’s completion. Another $207,000 was raised through challenge matches. The total of $478,000 more than doubled last year’s mark set during the University’s inaugural “UAlbany Giving Tuesday” campaign.

The largest matching donation came from Sodexo. The food services company challenged our campus community to meet a participation goal of 750 donors. Once completed, Sodexo donated $75,000. At the 1,000 donor mark, The UAlbany Foundation Board of Directors kicked in an additional $25,000.

In addition, matching gifts to the School of Business, School of Public Health, School of Criminal Justice, Sustainability Fund, UAlbany Athletics, Rockefeller College, and Cancer Research Center, were all successful.

“The way our entire UAlbany community came together this year was amazing,” said Ed McGlone, Assistant Director of Annual Giving, UAlbany Fund. “Whether it was alumni engagement through our #UAlbanyGivingTuesday hashtag campaign, or a student, faculty/staff member that participated here at UAlbany, there was so much energy and enthusiasm. It was incredible to be part of.”
