Men’s & Women’s Indoor Track Sets Sights on Added Post-Season Prowess

UAlbany Men's & Women's Indoor Track Teams look to the IC4As after taking home America East Championships.

ALBANY, N.Y. (February 25, 2013) - After capturing America East titles, the UAlbany Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field teams will compete in the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Boston University March 1-3. The Great Danes have previously won three IC4A titles.

Both teams look to capitalize on their dominant performances at the America East Championships earlier this month. The men’s team set a conference record with 231.50 points to win their eighth consecutive America East title. Their tenth title tied a conference record for total indoor championships in the fastest amount of time (11 years).

In addition to winning six event titles, the men’s team captured the Most Outstanding Field Performer, the top-scoring track athlete, and the Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

The women’s team captured its third America East title in four years, led by standout junior Kathryn Fanning, who won eight individual titles.

Overall, the UAlbany athletic department has won 61 conference championships at the Division I level.

The Danes’ success continued at the 106th Millrose Games at the NYC Amory, where the men's and women's teams broke school records in four of the six events. Both men’s and women’s 4x200m relay squads shattered program and meet records. The women's distance medley relay team also set a new school record, as did women’s long jumper, Pat McNish.
