'Fallbany', UAlbany's Annual Fall Festival to Feature Faculty Bookfair, Student Performances, Science Demos, Great Dane Rescue and Activities for All Ages, Oct. 15

ALBANY, N.Y. (October 4, 2011) -- The University at Albany will welcome the community to campus on Saturday, October 15 for 'Fallbany,' UAlbany's annual fall festival celebrating knowledge, culture, sports and entertainment. Featuring a variety of activities for all ages from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Fallbany will be held on the back lawn of the science library on the University's main campus located at 1400 Washington Avenue in Albany. Free parking will be available in the Dutch Quad parking lot.

Events include a faculty and alumni book fair with selections for all ages, live student performances, science demonstrations, a farmer’s market featuring cooking demonstrations using locally-produced food, sheepherding, and kids' activities.

In honor of UAlbany’s mascot, there will be a Great Dane meet-and-greet organized by the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League. The University Police K-9 unit will also be on hand to demonstrate how dogs are trained to assist with police investigations.

The annual Touchdown Tailgate Party happens from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. before the Great Danes take on Robert Morris at 1 p.m. on nearby University Field.

At 8 p.m., Earvin "Magic" Johnson will be the featured speaker of The World Within Reach Speaker Series. A former NBA star, Johnson is now the chairman and chief executive officer of Magic Johnson Enterprises, which provides products and services that particularly focus on ethnically diverse urban communities.
