Senior Salute

UAlbany Senior Salute

Graphic design by Keith Piersall, '07

This years Senior Salute will take place on Wednesday, April 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., near the Burger King in the Campus Center. Seniors can purchase regalia, announcements, diploma frames, covers, and yearbook photos, as well as receive vital career information. Career Development Center staff will also be present to talk with students about career options. In addition, the Registrars Office and Student Accounts will expand their hours to respond to questions students may have about degree status and accounts.

A special effort is being made to introduce members of the Class of 2004 to fellow graduates with whom they can keep in touch. UAlbany alumni will be on hand at the Senior Salute to network with, and smooth the way for, seniors planning their transition from student to career person. And the Alumni Association hopes to use the occasion as a means of forging strong links between the University and the graduates who will be departing soon by offering each attending senior a free one-year association membership. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in the Senior Class Gift, earmarked for the placement of a permanent electronic sign at the uptown campuss Western Avenue entrance. Seniors may make contributions in any amount toward the project.

The Senior Salute will also feature music, free food, and raffles. Giveaways will include two round-trip Southwest Airlines tickets, a pair of Yankees tickets, a DVD player, and dinner for four at Mad River.

UAlbanys Office of Alumni Relations & Advancement Events, Alumni Association, University Advancement, Student Activities, and Barnes & Noble Bookstore planned the event. The Alumni Association, Barnes & Noble, and University Auxiliary Services are providing funding for the Senior Salute.

In conjunction with the Universitys art department, Senior Salute planners held a contest for the design of the graphic to be used to illustrate the event. Keith Piersall, a member of the Class of 2007, created the Senior Salute icon and won a $50 gift certificate to Arlenes Artist Materials.
