Welcome to the Division for Research at the University at Albany. Research is a valued part of the UAlbany mission. The University is proud to be recognized as a “University with Very High Research Activity” by the Carnegie Foundation. In fiscal year 2007-08 the University at Albany faculty attracted $391 million in research funding for work advancing discovery in nanoscale sciences and engineering, life sciences, social sciences and public policy, atmospheric sciences, and in many other fields. In the National Science Foundation’s recent report of 2006-07 research expenditures in American universities, the University at Albany ranked 59th among all American universities and 15th among universities without medical schools.

The mission of the Division is to support the development and dissemination of new knowledge in a world-class research environment. The Division strives to create and advance intellectually stimulating and rewarding collaborations among faculty, students, research partners and clients.
