Advance Registration

Students admitted to the University are strongly encouraged to register during Advance Registration to ensure the availability of the courses they want. Students not eligible to advance register are those whose admissions status precludes continued enrollment, are academically ineligible to continue, withdrawn, or students who have “holds” blocking their registration. Holds preventing registration should be resolved prior to the time the students would otherwise be eligible to advance register. Students are able to check for holds on the MyUAlbany home page under "Important Notices".   

Eligible Graduate Students may register, add or drop at any time between the first day of Advance Registration and the first day of classes for the semester. After the first day of classes, please refer to the Academic Calendar for specific restrictions, fees and deadlines. 

Degree-seeking Undergraduate Students may register, add or drop at any time between their Enrollment Appointment Date and the first day of classes for the semester. Enrollment Appointment Dates can be viewed on MyUAlbany under "When Can I Enroll?". Please note that undergraduate students register on a seniority basis, according to the number of completed credits (see "Preparing for Advance Registration" for more information). After the first day of classes, please refer to the Academic Calendar for specific restrictions, fees and deadlines.  

General Studies students (non-degree undergraduates) should contact the General Studies Office (518) 442-5140 for additional information. Non-matriculated (non-degree) students are encouraged to contact the appropriate admissions office if they have questions about their status or eligibility.

UUP eligible students using the ECRP waiver may not register for a UUP course during Advance Registration or on Final Registration Day. Please consult the Academic Calendar for UUP dates.
