Community Service Month 2012
Reach Out, Get Involved
CSM spotlights and advances UAlbany's community engagement, local to global. Great work is going on year-round, such as courses helping to revitalize Albany's distressed neighborhoods; research with parent and non-profit partners to help reduce childhood obesity; training and character-based micro-loans to grow small businesses; and projects at home and abroad to foster techonology innovation in government.
UAlbany volunteers also are at work around the corner and around the world. The Student Association and Graduate Student Organization, for example, are partnering with Albany High School on a Student-to-Student Initiative, and student club Third World Impact is working with local partners to build an elementary school in Uganda.

We are proud that UAlbany has been recognized for the last two years on the (U.S.) President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. In 2010/11, nearly 7,400 UAlbany students participated in community service through volunteer work, courses, and internships.
Many thanks to our Community Service Month Planning Committee and Sponsors for making this initiative happen!
