CASDA's Scholar Recognition Program CASDA's Scholar Recognition Program is a business education partnership which recognizes outstanding scholastic achievement and examines key issues in education. Center for Achievement, Retention and Student Success (CARSS) Strengthens the U.S. workforce by addressing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics workforce shortfalls Center for Human Services Research Through its research, the Center seeks to strengthen university and community partnerships by conducting research in community-based settings. Center for Urban Youth & Technology (CUYT) CUYT is dedicated to implementing technology-based programs designed to work with urban youth. Center on English Learning and Achievement (CELA) Since 1987 CELA has been conducting research dedicated to gaining knowledge to improve students' English and literacy achievement. Community Service in Education (EDU 390) EDU 390 is a course for undergraduate students to get involved in community service. Elementary Student Teaching - Focus on Special Education Elementary Student Teaching placements are provided for graduate students in the Special Education MS programs through cooperative arrangements with elementary schools. Elementary Tutoring Program The Elementary Tutoring Program involves undergraduate students who provide support to elementary schools. Family Support and Youth Development The School of Social Welfare promotes school and community service innovations, consultation, grant writing and demonstration projects. Know Your Schools~for NY Kids Know Your Schools~for NY Kids, affiliated with the School of Education, offers a variety of free school improvement resources to the community. Liberty Partnership Rising Stars Program The Liberty Partnerships Program is a middle & high school intervention program for students at risk of leaving school. NanoHigh NanoHigh was designed by CNSE and the City School District of Albany to increase students' knowledge of nanotechnology and the career opportunities it offers. Partnership for Literacy Through its Partnership for Literacy the Center on English Learning & Achievement offers a variety of instructional and professional development services to schools. Performances for High School Student Groups Each season, the Performing Arts Center hosts professional touring artists who perform weekday matinees for high school student groups. School of Social Welfare Faculty Outreach School of Social Welfare faculty members contribute their expertise to a wide range of national and local organizations. Science & Technology Entry Program (STEP) STEP prepares historically underrepresented and/or economically disadvantaged K-12 students to acquire the aptitude and skills necessary to pursue post-secondary degrees. Smart Scholars Early College High School Program The Smart Scholars Early College High School Program was developed to increase high school graduation rates and college completion rates for disadvantaged students. Special Education Internship Program The Special Education program provides required internship placements for its graduate students through cooperative agreements with schools across the Capital District. Summer School Program Special Education graduate students, in cooperation with local schools, provide summer school instruction for children in need of additional instructional support. University at Albany Literacy Lab The Reading Department offers the capstone practicum for the literacy specialist master's degree (Birth to Grade 6) in the Cohoes City School District. University in the High School (UHS) High school teachers become adjunct faculty at UAlbany and give courses in their high schools for UAlbany college credit.
