UAlbany’s Graduate School offers a wide range of services to help international students navigate applications and the admissions and matriculation process. All international applicants to UAlbany graduate study must take either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
The minimum TOEFL score for most UAlbany programs is 213 (computer-based), 550 (paper-based), or 79 (Internet-based). The recommended minimum IELTS bandscore is 6.5 for most graduate programs. Several academic departments require higher results. For more information please inquire directly at your prospective department or program.
Once admitted to a graduate program, the Graduate School supports international students to identify your sources for financial aid, including fellowships and teaching and research assistantships. All prospective international students must complete a Financial Affidavit as part of the admissions process.
