Dear Colleagues:

I invite you to join me for the SUNY Board of Trustees� Annual Town/Gown Conference to be hosted by the University at Albany on December 3, 2004. Colleagues from UAlbany, Hudson Valley Community College, Schenectady County Community College and The Empire State College will join with local citizens and business and community leaders to examine the role of SUNY institutions and their impact on the economic vitality and quality of life in the region.

The conference will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Ballroom and other Campus Center venues, and will feature an impressive group of academic and community leaders. The daylong agenda is as follows:

10:30 a.m. Opening Remarks and Recognition of Elected Officials
 
11:00 a.m. Plenary Session: University and Community Partnerships � Strategies
and Successes
 
12:15 p.m. Lunch with Chancellor Robert L. King
 
2:00 p.m. Concurrent Roundtable Discussions
  A. Economic Impact through Research and Workforce Development
  B. Colleges and Communities � Partners in Social, Cultural and
Economic Revitalization
 
3:30 p.m. Conference concludes
   

The conference is free and open to the entire University community, but registration is required. Please RSVP by e-mail to [email protected] and indicate which session(s) you will attend.

The University at Albany contributes to the region�s economic development and well-being in so many critical ways. The Town Gown Conference will provide us with a unique opportunity for direct feedback about on-going programming and an open discussion about initiatives for the future.
