Sourcebook of Criminal Justice Statistics
Funded by the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Statistics, the Sourcebook of Criminal Justice Statistics is one of the nation's pre-eminent sources of statistical information relevant to criminal justice. The Sourcebook has been based in Albany since 1972 and is indelibly linked to the School of Criminal Justice and the Hindelang Criminal Justice Research Center. Dr. Kathleen Maguire has been the project director and co-editor for the past three decades, and several staff members and assistants are employed with the project. The Sourcebook is a national resource of information for the criminal justice community as well as the general public. Staff regularly respond to questions from practitioners and policymakers in all levels of government in New York and other states, and from scholars, researchers, students, the media, and the public. Since the book became available as a dynamic website in 1996, it has been updated weekly with new information. The website is visited by a steadily growing number of people from the United States and internationally, registering an average 15,000 visitors per month.
