Recommended Test Scores

The University recommends a minimum TOEFL score for most UAlbany programs of 213 (computer based), 550 (paper based), or 79 (Internet based). The recommended minimum IELTS bandscore is 6.5 for most graduate programs. We will only accept official valid scores of exams sent by the test taking institution. Exams taken beyond 2 years are considered expired and are unacceptable. Several academic departments do require higher results. You may query programs of your choice through the Academic Departments page. For electronic IELTS score results reporting, please give the following information to your testing center:

Cost of Attending UAlbany

The Office of Student Accounts provides current information on Tuition, Fees and Expenses for international students at the University at Albany. Please note that international students should budget for an additional $4,000 annually for each dependent who accompanies them to Albany.

Financial Assistance

A wide range of financial aid opportunities are available at Funding Graduate Study at the University. The University is unable to provide any other financial assistance to prospective graduate international students. It is, therefore, essential that students provide an honest and accurate declaration of funding on the Financial Affidavit.

The Office of International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) is the resource and advisement center for UAlbany's international student population.
