Global Health Studies Certificate Program

CERTIFICATE IN GLOBAL HEALTH STUDIES

The Graduate Certificate in Global Health Studies is designed to equip graduate students, health care professionals, and public health professionals with an in-depth understanding of the complexities and realities of global health. To obtain the certificate students must successfully complete five three-credit courses (for a total of 15 credits):

HPM645, Introduction to Global Health (3 credits)
EPI630, Global Perspectives in Epidemiology (3 credits)
HPM655, International Health Economics (3 credits)
HPM656, Comparative Health Systems (3 credits)
EHS607, Global Environmental Health Policy (3 credits)

Courses will be offered in a rotation to ensure that incoming students are able to complete the Certificate in a two year period by taking one of two Global Health courses each semester.  A Plan of Study will provide guidance to students as they progress through the Certificate's requirements. Certificate in Global Health Studies courses which are taken as electives in University at Albany MPH degree program may be counted toward both the certificate and the MPH degree.  Approval for counting these courses for other University at Albany degree programs is contingent upon review by those particular programs.
