WMHT, in partnership with the Center for Women in Government and Civil Society at the University at Albany, SUNY and Holding Our Own, Inc., invite you to a Salon Screening of Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide.
The screening will feature a 40 minute overview of the recently broadcast four hour mini-series, focusing on six key issues: health care, education, economic empowerment, sex trafficking and forced prostitution, gender-based violence, and maternal mortality.
Following the screening, join us for a critical discussion of both the issues raised by the film and the various approaches, strategies, and solutions offered by the filmmakers. The event will be free and open to the public. Additional details and a formal invitation will be released closer to the event.
This screening is made possible by a grant from Independent Television Service (ITVS). Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide is part of the Women and Girls Lead initiative, spearheaded by ITVS in partnership with CPB and PBS.
