CWGCS Operating Policies

Feminist values are integral to CWGCS as a woman-centered organization. The following feminist principles guide CWGCS' work and the way this work is conducted.

  • Utilizing processes and practices that emphasize communication, cooperation, partnership, networking, community, inclusion and equality;
  • Using participatory decision-making, power-sharing and democratic structure of governance. Establishing accountability to the community of women and to making meaningful contributions to eliminating barriers of inclusion for all women;
  • Seeking guidance and sharing of information with the women community to inform our practices and our work;
  • Encouraging competition with oneself, instead of competition with others;
  • Embracing challenge and conflict as critical to growth, and utilizing respectful and healthy conflict resolution strategies;
  • Celebrating all difference among women;
  • Maintaining commitment to mentoring, skill sharing and collective and individual growth;
  • Examining and reflecting constantly on the value of our work to the community of women; and working across all boundaries, including those of geography and identity to advance our vision of dismantling intersecting oppressions in the lives of women.
