UAlbany Transfer Connections

Transfer Mentoring

UA Transfer Connections is a mentoring program that is designed to pair transfer students with student/faculty/staff mentors on campus.  New transfer students can sign up to work with a mentor during their first semester at UAlbany, in order to make their transition an easier one.  In addition, current transfer students who are in academic need, or who just want an extra resource for the semester, can also sign up for the program.

New transfer students wishing to work with a mentor in their first semester are encouraged to sign up at Transfer Planning Conference in the summer.  If you did not sign up at TPC and would still like to work with a mentor, please fill out and mail in the mentee application.

UATC has finished recruiting its first group of mentors for Fall 2009.  However, new mentors will be added each semester.  To be a student UATC mentor, you must:

  • have transferred to UAlbany from another institution;
  • have at least a 3.0 GPA at UAlbany by the end of Spring 2009, and
  • be in good judicial standing at UAlbany.

Please read through the information on mentor roles/expectations provided here, and fill out the application if you are interested.  Applications are due by April 17, 2009 to mentor for the Fall 2009 semester.

Faculty and staff interested in mentoring should contact Kelly Lamb at 442-3548, or klamb@uamail.albany.edu.
