Computational Nanaoscience and Nanotechnology
-
The Computational Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CNN) Group at SUNY-Albany group is led by Professor Yongqiang Xue and focuses on atomic-scale theory and modeling of nanostructured materials, devices and their applications in information technology and biotechnology.
-
This group is engaged in the theoretical and computational approach to solving problems of interests to nanoscience and nanotechnology. Their goals are three-fold: (1) to formulate the unifying language that can be used to connect and communicate between different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology; (2) to develop the theoretical methods that can be used to study any process of interest to nanoscience and nanotechnology; (3) to create the simulation tools that can be used to compute any property of interest to nanoscience and nanotechnology. We develop the methods that solve the problems, and we emphasize fundamentals without neglecting details.
Genomics:
-
Tools such as Hmmr are being used by the research teams at UAlbany's Gen*NY*Sis Center. Their research is directored toward developing efficient bioinformatic tools by integrating statistics, unsupervised and supervised classification methods, high performance computing, and IT, and applying these tools to genomics research.
