Summary: On September 12 2006 Microsoft released its security bulletin for the month of September.  Included in this update are three bulletins (MS06-052, MS06-053, and MS06-054).  Microsoft also re-released security bulletins MS06-040 and MS06-042 on September 12 (the re-releases of these bulletins are intended to address performance issues; knowledge base articles associated with these bulletins have been updated as well).  Bulletins MS06-040,042,and 054 are listed as "critical" by the vendor. 

Recommended Actions:   Windows System Administrators and Flash users are encouraged to read the security bulletins and associated information (links provided below) and (if appropriate) install the updated bulletins as soon as possible.

ITS Actions:  ITS Systems Management and Operations Staff will apply all necessary patches to the appropriate ITS servers as part of the next scheduled system update.
