ITS Service Outage Friday, November 26, 2004
All UAlbany computing network services will be suspended the day after Thanksgiving (11/26/04) from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All services, including www.albany.edu and MyUAlbany will be inaccessible on campus or from remote locations. How come? The Office of Telecommunications will be upgrading fiber optic cable to accommodate growth of the University network.
All network services will be unavailable for the duration of the upgrade, including:
- all web sites and services;
- all administrative services including MyUAlbany, IAS and Web CT;
- library catalogs and affiliated services;
- all email;
- all residence halls and user rooms;
- all shared or departmental network file space and personal network file space on University Microsoft file servers;
- and network-based printing services.
- Departmentally-managed servers will also be inaccessible.
Telephone services will be available. Please plan your work accordingly.
Although the outage is scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., library services are expected to be restored by 10:00 a.m. If you would like to check whether services are available, please call the Libraries before coming to campus.
Locations where the longest delays are expected include:
- the residence halls and ResNet services;
- lecture centers;
- Service Buildings A and B;
- the Commissary;
- Alumni House;
- the University Health Center;
- and the RACC/Physical Education complex.
Services should be restored to all locations by 3:00 p.m.
