Students and employees are issued a PIN and assigned a NetID. The PIN is used as an authentication tool to set/reset your password for MyUAlbany, UNIX services, or Windows Network Access. The NetID is your username and you obtain it after completing the Password Set/Reset process. To login to an account, you use your NetID and Password.
Steps to Set or Reset Your Password Using Your PIN
- Go to http://www.albany.edu/its.
- Click the link for "Password Set/Reset" located on the left side of the page.
- Enter your SSN or AlbanyID, Date of Birth and PIN; then click Next.
- On the next page, select and answer a security question. Then create and answer a second security question. Click Next.
- Enter and confirm your new password. At the top of this page there are checkboxes for the systems available on campus. The default setting is MyUAlbany and UNIX. However, you can check the box(es) for the system(s) you would like the password to set or reset. Then click Next.
- The last page displays your NetID. Write down your NetID. You will use your NetID and new password to login to your accounts.
If you do not have an SSN on record with the University, you will use your AlbanyID for the Password Set/Reset process. If you do not know your AlbanyID, contact the Registrar's Office (student) or Office of Human Resources (employee.)
Applying to UAlbany? Applicants are issued an AlbanyID during the application process. To check the status of your application, you do not need a PIN. Contact the Office of Admissions if you need assistance with the online 'Check my application status' process.
Newly accepted or admitted to UAlbany? ITS will mail a letter containing a PIN to the matriculated student's permanent mailing address approximately one week after the University receives the student's admissions deposit and/or after the student's record is marked with matriculated status. If you have questions about your status at the University, contact the office that informed you of your acceptance to the University or contact the Student Services Center.
If you know your PIN, you can complete the Password Set/Reset process. For matriculated students, registered students and current employees, the ITS HelpDesk has a PIN lookup service available at (518) 442-3700 or you can walk-in to LC-27 during business hours. PIN lookup requests cannot be completed by email.
