Students and employees are issued a PIN and assigned a NetID. The PIN is used as an authentication tool to set/reset your password for MyUAlbany, UNIX services, or Windows Network Access. The NetID is your username and you obtain it after completing the Password Set/Reset process. To login to an account, you use your NetID and Password.
Steps to Set or Reset Your Password Using Your PIN
- Go to http://www.albany.edu/its.
- Click the link for "Password Set/Reset" located on the left side of the page.
- Enter your SSN or AlbanyID, Date of Birth and PIN; then click Next.
- On the next page, select and answer a security question. Then create and answer a second security question. Click Next.
- Enter and confirm your new password. At the top of this page there are checkboxes for the systems available on campus. The default setting is MyUAlbany and UNIX. However, you can check the box(es) for the system(s) you would like the password to set or reset. Then click Next.
- The last page displays your NetID. Write down your NetID. You will use your NetID and new password to login to your accounts.
If you do not have an SSN on record with the University, you will use your Albany ID for the Password Set/Reset process. If you do not know your Albany ID, contact the Registrar's Office (student) or Office of Human Resources (employee.)
If you know your PIN, you can complete the Password Set/Reset process. If you did not receive your PIN letter or forgot your PIN, call the ITS HelpDesk at (518) 442-3700 or walk-in to LC-27 during business hours. PIN lookup requests cannot be completed by email.
